‘We are family‘ and the host – Sepp Schellhorn – is personally in charge of the Seehof’s cuisine. He also gets supported by chef de cuisine Rudolf Pichler and his innovate as well as creative team!

‘Let us, for example, have a closer look at Sepp Schellhorn‘s Seehof at Goldegg – a hotel as cozy and as eccentric as an extended living room on four floors, with an enormous bookcase, chamois antlers and Marlyn acts, gunpowder horns and a great deal of contemporary art.  As Schellhorn’s spouse Susi explains ‘It is our goal to manage a hotel in which we feel at home’. The underlying concept based on which the hosts operate the associated HECHT! Restaurant transforms this thought into its culinary delights.  Core produce such as milk, eggs, meat and fish get procured from within a radius of 120 kilometers and the host grows the vast majority of vegetables in his own garden. This is also where the wood oven stands in which bread is baked daily.  In line with rural farmers' tradition, cabbage and root vegetables are stored in burrows.  A whole squad of kitchen aids preserves fresh vegetables in summer.  If possible, everything gets used.  For example, the cauliflower stems get used for Schellhorn’s plain, yet wonderful and delicious ‘Cauliflower Polonaise’ and get served on the cauliflower florets.  There is no fine-part-of-meat-only cuisine policy at the Seehof which is why meat innards – rarely found on menus these days - are quite frequently on the menu.  Kidneys and sweetbread, liver or heart and lights, served in perfection so that one’s palate explodes with joy. (...)‘

Culinary holidays from early in the mornings to late in the evenings

Breakfast gets served starting at the first rays of the morning sun at the lake terrace complimented by freshly squeezed juice and special egg dishes.  Light dishes can be chosen for lunch from our lunch menu. Cakes after grandmother’s old recipes and snacks are offered in the afternoon.

In the evening, we tend to the needs of our Seehof Hotel clients as well as our à la carte guests by offering a unique, well-balanced combination of foods daily at premium quality.  ‘Amazing’, as young people call it :-)
