The summits around Goldegg may not only get a white coating over night in October, yet winter really kicks off in December. At that time with sufficient amounts of snow for virtually any winter sports one can dream of pursuing in the Austrian mountains.
At an altitude of 825 meters, Goldegg is a winter paradise off the beaten track of large ski areas. The latter can easily be reached, however you can use it to your full advantage that Goldegg is a more leisurely and relaxed place. Winter in the Pongau is not only characterized by skiing as winter hiking trails and cross-country ski trails start right next to the hotel. When the lake is frozen, you can even have a go at ice skating or Bavarian curling (ice stick shooting) with Goldegg’s locals.

Goldegg in the Pongau is surrounded by some of the most splendid Austrian ski areas: Gasteinertal, Großarltal or the Salzburg Sportwelt lie within a thirty-minute radius by car and can be enjoyed with one single ski pass.

Cross-country skiing for beginners and professionals
The lake-side trail around Goldegg Lake starts directly at the Seehof terrace where two other trails branch off as well. At Goldegg, you can be looking forward to 45km of traced cross-country trails well prepared for skating. Most of the trails are ideal for cross-country skiing for beginners. The trails with many meters in altitude difference can be quite strenuous and are perfect for advanced cross-country skiers-

The cold time of the year can also be very well enjoyed through the window pane. You can take your pick from the hotel’s Suhrkamp Library as well as from various art and illustrated books or daily newspapers and magazines while enjoying an aperitif at the cozy fireplace. The Alpine sauna might also be a great alternative prior to getting seated in the HECHT Restaurant or at the Chef’s Table in the Seehof kitchen to experience most elaborate gourmet cuisine.
