The Seehof community is cosmopolitan and welcoming. We are a community that is growing and developing. New people are constantly joining us and enriching the house with their talents and personalities. They are all part of the atmosphere and the special mood in the house. It is an atmosphere that encourages us to forget, overcome, overlook and leave boundaries behind. An imagination that continues to open up and that lives in the awareness and pride of what we do:
② Sporthotel
The Seehof has stood since 1740 and has been run by my family for 5 generations. I am the 5th generation, I am the head chef and manage the house together with my mum Susi. For 15 years, or actually my whole life, I have experienced what it means to host guests, to give them a good time and to watch them relax, meet new people and somehow go home again in a different way.
The name of the residency comes from the history of the Seehof, which was run as a sports hotel by my grandparents almost half a century ago. Back then, the attribute ‘sports hotel’ stood for skiing, cross-country skiing, hiking, swimming, golfing and enjoying nature.As sport has always been more of a hobby than a competition for me, art is now my sport. So now again: sports hotel, because: ‘Art must become a hobby!’ I liked to propagate at the art university, because I think that you shouldn’t lose the fun of creative work. Otherwise I would be a professional golfer today, or a skier or even a footballer. However, the individualism practised by the active, young (art) generation makes it quite difficult to be funny, have fun and fail. You don’t want to offend anyone. It’s different at the Sporthotel. The idea here is to let yourself be entertained as an artist, to feel the day-to-day running of a restaurant, to exchange ideas, to form new ways of thinking and to pursue your work. It’s not about being the best, the most correct or the wildest. At the Sporthotel, at best you learn to understand the community that makes up such a place, and thus – through positive input – further develop the place and the community.
The only place to be free is the place you live well.
